# Tutorials on the twitch chat API

Hi,

I will wish to use the API of the cat on my website but I am a beginner it is a bit difficult for me you have tutorials on the twitch chat API?

Twitch Chat is compatible with IRC, customized as detailed in the [documentation](https://github.com/justintv/Twitch-API/blob/master/IRC.md). It depends on what you want to do. If you just want to embed chat on your website, you can just use the [chat embed](https://github.com/justintv/Twitch-API/blob/master/embed-chat.md). If you want to create a custom Twitch Chat client, you either have you write your own IRC handling (if it’s on a website you’d probably connect via Websockets) or use a library like [tmi.js](https://www.tmijs.org/) which does a lot of things for you already.
