What channel and server are you trying to connect to? Make sure you have the [correct server](https://staging-discuss.dev.twitch.com/t/psa-chat-servers-are-going-to-migrate-to-aws-ec2-servers/4877) for that particular channel. Also make sure the channel name is in all lower case letters when you send your JOIN command. ---

Try using [irc.chat.twitch.tv/6667](http://irc.chat.twitch.tv/6667) instead. That channel was moved to AWS. ---

That was a typo. I was using 6667 ---
