# Is there any way to see gifted subs through the api?

I am trying to know if there is any way to see through the API when a sub is gifted or not. Also when someone gifts 2, 5, and 10 subs.

“Giftbombs” as they are commonly referred to are only visible in chat

yes `is_gift` is a flag on [Get Broadcaster Subscriptions](https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/api/reference#get-broadcaster-subscriptions) similar data (and the gift flag) is also presented on [EventSub](https://dev.twitch.tv/docs/eventsub/eventsub-subscription-types#channelsubscribe) it’s also flagged in chat in the USERNOTICE

So does this mean I can read the chat through the API and obtain this information?

You can read chat via “IRC” not the “API”

The API and IRC/Chat are two different things to be clear
