We are currently developing an extension that was planned as component.
In short wording the streamer has a game client running and at some points community can interact with the running game.
For that reason the extension needs to be able to pop up some controls to a user when his reaction is required.
In your latest approach that means the user has to activate the extension when he wants to participate and needs to keep it open to allow the extension to do its work (alerting etc).
Thats the point where the always displayed background and the header get disturbing to the viewer.
Your latest approach is kind of “panels can now overlay the stream” like a call to “develop interactive censor bars”
I hope you can understand what the frustration is about. Basicly it might be an improvement for usability for people not aware of how those extensions worked before but it’s a huge restriction in how devs can utilize the overlay extensions.
For us that means we will now need to develop the extension as a full overlay and additionally as panel as well as non-recommended component v2 to have some alternatives.
Edit from Barry the Moderator: BASICALLY, the same thing as the Rage2 Extension (when installed as a componenet)
